A detail from an earlier painting
This little painting actually has a bigger painting behind it.
I previously painted a piece called The Hidden Detail, inspired by the reflection of Corinthian-style columns across the street in a window. The original painting has since sold, but I always loved that little window detail.
So I decided to give it a life of its own.
I love the idea that something which might have gone unnoticed in a larger painting can become the entire subject of another. Sometimes the details deserve their own moment.
