AMIRA EL-SOKKARY

Painter of moments you forgot you were living. - Seattle and Olympia, WA

I’m Amira :) A painter based in Seattle, working mostly in acrylic, mostly about places I didn’t want to leave.

Most of my work is an ode to Italy. The side streets of Bosa, the harbor at Oritigia, a Roman market at noon, the particular quality of Mediterranean light in the hour before dinner. I’ve been trying to paint the way Italy feels, not just the way it looks. And so far, I have yet to run out of material!

When I’m not painting Italy, I’m painting the feeling of gathering. The dinner party mid-chaos. The nearly empty glass. The meal that nobody wants to end.

To me, art is not a brand. It is a diary.

This is where I keep it all. Originals, prints, cards, and my Paint-and-Sip classes around Seattle and Olympia, where I hand total beginners a brush, and somehow, they leave with something worth hanging up.

Commissions are open. Tell me about the place, the meal, the person across the table… and I’ll turn it into something you can keep looking at.
